I found The Temperance House to be a charming spot for my overnight trip, rich in history and character. However, my stay was quite variable, with some issues that detracted from the experience. The location in the heart of town is a major plus, but the breakfast left much to be desired.

Rooms

My room, the Chairman's Suite, was cozy and had a lot of character. though the tiny bathroom could use some TLC. Climbing the narrow stairs to reach my room reminded me of inns in Ireland, which I loved.
Service

The staff were friendly and made me feel welcome, though there were moments when I wished for more assistance. I had a bit of trouble finding the lodging entrance due to the multiple doors.
Location

Being centrally located made it easy for me to explore the local shops and restaurants. It definitely added to the appeal of staying here.
Dining

The breakfast was somewhat disappointing. I expected something more hearty than the assortment of boxed pastries and bagels. A fresh fruit option would have been nice.
Facilities

Although the hotel has a historical charm, some clean areas felt inadequate. I noticed some wear and tear that needed attention.

The Temperance House has a charming historic vibe and a convenient location right in the heart of Newtown, making it easy for me to explore local shops and restaurants. However, the inn's breakfast options left something to be desired, and some aspects of the building showed wear. Overall, it offered a unique experience with its quaint atmosphere, but the lack of modern conveniences may not suit everyone.

While the tavern had a lively atmosphere and good food, I found the breakfast options uninspiring. lacking fresh fruit or hearty fare, though there were pastries and yogurt.

The inn retains its historic charm and was generally clean, but the absence of an elevator made carrying luggage a bit of a hassle. especially on the narrow stairs leading to my room.

My stay at The Temperance House was truly nice, with a charming atmosphere that highlighted its rich history. The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel welcome throughout my visit. However, I did encounter some discomfort with the bedding, which left much to be desired. Overall, the combination of good food, wonderful staff, and the inn's unique character makes it a place I'm likely to revisit.

I adored my room, filled with character, although it was a touch small. The historical charm was captivating, but I found the bed quite uncomfortable due to the sheets and plastic underneath.

I had a pleasant stay at The Temperance House, appreciating its unique historic charm and convenient location near shops and restaurants. The staff, especially Kathy at check-in, were friendly and attentive, which made me feel welcomed. However, the breakfast room was quite dimly lit, and the food could definitely use some upgrades. Additionally, while I enjoyed the live music on a Saturday night, it might be too loud for light sleepers. Overall, it was a nice experience, just not without its imperfections.

My stay at The Temperance House was quite an experience overall. I loved the historic charm and the cozy atmosphere, giving me a sense of the past right in the heart of the town. However, the breakfast was a letdown, with limited options that didn’t really cater to different preferences. Overall, I appreciated the unique character and the vibrant community feel, but it could certainly benefit from some breakfast upgrades.

Rooms

I stayed in the Haunted Porter's Suite, which was cozy and had all the essentials. The bed was comfy, though I did wonder about the rustling of my pillow, which might have been due to a protective slip.
Service
8.0
The service was really warm and friendly, especially from Kathy, who made check-in super easy and showed me around the historical parts of the inn.
Location
8.0
You can't beat the location—right in the center of town and close to shops and restaurants. It's a huge plus for exploring the area on foot.
Dining
6.0
Dinner at the tavern was a highlight with good food and a fun vibe. However, I was disappointed with the breakfast choices, which felt quite basic and lacking in freshness.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities are clean and well-kept, but the breakfast area could use more light and better food options given the price of the stay.
